UK Accountant (Temp WFH)
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly working papers and ensure all balance sheet and control accounts are fully reconciled. This role is essential for maintaining strong financial controls and supporting accurate financial reporting across our hospitality operations.
The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. Regular and independent communication with management, finance peers, and colleagues in other functions or business areas is expected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate monthly working papers to support the management accounts.
- Deal with bookkeeping queries by your team members
- Prepare and check ledger balances and other monthly and yearly accounts
- Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet and control accounts, including bank, payroll, accruals, prepayments, stock, deposits, and other key schedules.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly to ensure data integrity.
- Keep well-organised documentation to support month-end and audit processes.
- Use computerised accounting systems
- Work closely with and report into accountant on the team to meet month-end deadlines.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial and administrative tasks as required
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience with working on UK companies.
- Experience of working within an accountancy practice.
- Strong understanding of the balance sheet and account reconciliation principles.
- Experience using Xero and/or QuickBooks (QB).
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally in the hospitality sector.
- High level of attention to detail and a methodical approach to reconciliations.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with numerical data.
- Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accurate documentation.
- Reliable, proactive, and keen to learn and develop.
- Comfortable working independently while reporting into senior staff.
- Strong communication skills when liaising with team members.
- Curious, investigative mindset with a desire to resolve issues and improve accuracy.
- Must have a stable internet connection for a work-from-home arrangement. The designated work area must be in a private room, separate from shared spaces used by other household members.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, UK (3:30 PM to 11:30 PM MNL)
