UK Accountant (Hybrid)

The role needs strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. 

The role is expected to have regular and independent communication with management, peers in finance and other functions/business. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Management Accounts

  • Preparing management accounts for a range of clients. These can be monthly, quarterly and month 10 accounts. Preparation includes reconciling the balance sheet accounts, reviewing the P&L and ensuring consistency of coding. Preparing accruals, prepayments, deferred and accrued income/cost adjustments where appropriate, closing stock adjustments, salary and wages postings, depreciation calculations and posting journals for these.
  • Preparing reporting packs for management accounts. These include commentaries on period performance and analysis versus budget where appropriate. Packs may be prepared using a variety of software, including Xero, Futrli and Spotlights. Some packs will also include additional analysis e.g. of sales and/or product margins.
  • Identifying key points to highlight to clients.
  • Liaise with client managers to answer queries on management accounts prepared and to make amendments as required.
  • Other adhoc work as required e.g. from time to time preparing budgets or forecasts.

Bookkeeping 

  • Bookkeeping processing for a defined client base including processing purchase ledger invoices using Dext, bank and credit card reconciliations, correctly allocating vat and preparing client queries.
  • Helping to document bookkeeping processes for defined client base.
  • In the medium term, take on team leader responsibilities for offshore bookkeeping team including training of new members, day to day supervision to ensure that targets and service level standards are met.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of Xero. If you are not Xero accredited we would expect you to become so.
  • Ability to plan own workload and work under time pressure.
  • Excellent English – written and oral.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid work environment. Willingness to build and maintain working relationships with remote colleagues.
  • Stable internet connection in home working environment.
  • Great understanding of accounting fundamentals – know the debits and credits.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar environment.
  • Understand the fundamentals of UK Vat and be willing to build on this knowledge.
  • Be able to demonstrate how you would meet our company values through practical examples.
  • Good excel knowledge – comfortable with lookups and pivot tables. Ability to manipulate data using these tools.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Must have a stable internet connection for a work-from-home arrangement. The designated work area must be in a private room, separate from shared spaces used by other household members.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, UK (3:30 PM to 11:30 PM MNL)
