We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to provide comprehensive audit services for our Australian client. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment, demonstrating a strong ability to handle diverse financial responsibilities.
 
Responsibilities

  • Financial Statement Audits for Strata Schemes:
    • Audit Execution:
      • Conduct audits of financial statements for strata schemes, ensuring compliance with bylaws, statutes, and ATO regulations.
      • Verify documentation for asset and liability classes, and trace comparatives from prior years' audit workpapers.
      • Reconcile bank balances to statements, investigate variances, and review cash/real accounts.
      • Analyze levy income, arrears, and advances against supporting documentation.
    • Expenses & Accruals Review:
      • Audit expenses through sampling and investigate significant budget vs. actual variances.
      • Review year-end accruals (debtors, creditors, prepayments) and confirm subsequent payments/collections.
      • Verify reversal of prepayments at the start of the subsequent financial year.
    • Compliance Checks:
      • Monitor GST registration requirements based on revenue turnover.
      • Review deficit balances in funds held and check the ATO portal for outstanding lodgements (BAS/ITR), payables, or refunds.
    • BAS preparation & Lodgment:
      • Ensure accurate GST recording and review GST-free transactions.
      • Reconcile GST variances (cash vs. accruals) and prepare BAS forms using both methods.
      • Allocate GST payables/refunds between strata scheme funds.
      • Validate bank details in the ATO portal.
    • Client & Regulatory Engagement
      • Collaborate with clients and the Client Relationship Manager (Caren Chen) to clarify audit findings in plain language.
      • Resolve ATO/audit-related issues proactively with clients.
      • Draft clear, concise audit reports with minimal jargon.
      • Present research findings on regulatory updates (e.g., ATO rules, Acts) to peers.

 
Requirements 

  • Must possess at least a bachelor's degree in accountancy and is CPA-licensed. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with a local auditing firms
  • Strong reading comprehension to interpret bylaws, statutes, and regulations
  • Proficiency in resolving complex issues and communicating solutions succinctly
  • Ability to conduct independent research and reconcile variances
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client interactions and team collaboration
  • Excellent written English for reports and compliance documentation
  • Willingness to learn ATO regulations, Australian laws, and strata scheme operations
  • Openness to undergo training and professional development
  • Stable internet connection and a designated work area that's private and separated from shared spaces used by other household members

Location: Global One Building, Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City
Schedule: AU (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM MNL)
