AU Accountant (WFH)
You will be working with our Australian accounting firm client in a role designed to support your professional growth in Australian accounting.
As an Accountant, you will begin with core bookkeeping responsibilities on Xero and progress toward preparing trial balances, small business tax returns, and financial statements as you develop your skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle daily bookkeeping tasks using Xero, including:
- Account and bank reconciliations
- Finance logs and basic report generation
- Progress to bookkeeping-to-trial-balance work:
- Prepare draft trial balances
- Identify and resolve account discrepancies
- Assist with month-end closing activities
- Support journal entries and period analysis
- Transition to small business tax and financial work:
- Prepare simple small business tax returns
- Prepare financial statements (balance sheets, P&L, cash flow)
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Provide bookkeeping and tax support across client portfolios
Requirements:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Proficiency with Xero (essential); MYOB or QuickBooks knowledge a plus
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience with small business accounting
- Knowledge of Australian tax basics (for small business)
- Familiarity with month-end closing processes
Schedule: Monday to Friday, AU (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM MNL)
