FAQ

What’s the difference between outsourcing and hiring a dedicated offshore team member?Outsourcing sends tasks to another company that does the work their way. A dedicated offshore team works only for you, follows your processes, and becomes part of your team. You have full control, just as if they were in your office.

What kind of work can an offshore accountant actually do?Frontline offshore team can handle any task that doesn’t require being in your office—from self-managed super fund audits to company and trust tax returns, payroll, reporting, and financial analysis. Beyond accounting, we also provide skilled staff for admin, operations, IT, bookkeeping, marketing, and other support roles.

Will I still have control over the quality of work?Yes. Your offshore team works only for you, follows your processes, and reports directly to you. You set the standards, give guidance, and manage their workflow—just like an in-office employee.

How quickly can I get a team member? It usually takes 30–60 days to hire a team member, depending on the role. You help define the role, interview candidates, and choose the right person.

Do offshore accountants understand Australian tax and compliance requirements? Most Filipino accountants don’t start with Australian experience, but they have strong accounting backgrounds.
At Frontline, we train them in Australian tax and compliance through our bootcamp.

What kind of support do I get once my offshore team is in place? You’ll get ongoing support in HR, IT, operations, and training—whatever you need. This could be regular check-ins, specialised tax training, or ensuring your team member has the right equipment and support.

How do offshore employment costs compare to Australia?Hiring an offshore team costs one-third of hiring in Australia—for example, an accountant with 2–3 years’ local experience is typically AU$25,000 – AU$30,000 per year, which covers Frontline fees, salary, benefits, and extras like private health insurance.

What kind of work can an offshore accountant actually do?Pretty much anything that can be done remotely. Our offshore staff already support firms, businesses, and industry roles with everything from self-managed super fund audits to company and trust tax returns, payroll, reporting, and financial analysis. And it’s not limited to accountants — we also recruit non-accounting professionals for admin, operations, and other roles. If the work doesn’t require someone physically in your office, we can find the right person to do it.

Will I still have control over the quality of work?Yes. Your offshore team members work exclusively for you. They report directly to you and follow your processes — just like someone in your Melbourne or Sydney office. You set the standards, provide the guidance, and manage the workflow.

What’s the difference between outsourcing and hiring a dedicated offshore team member? With traditional outsourcing, you send work to another company, and they send it back completed. This requires you to send your data to the outsourcer and their staff complete the work their way. With Frontline and offshoring, there’s no data transfer and you get a dedicated team member who works only for you, on your systems, your way. They’re part of your team, follow your direction, and grow with your business. If they want to take leave, they request it through you. If they want a pay rise, they request it through you. You have full control, just as if they were in your office.

How quickly can I get a team member?Because we recruit specifically for your role, the process usually takes 30–60 days, depending on complexity. You’ll be involved in defining the role, interviewing candidates, and making the final decision. As with recruitment anywhere in the world, the key is finding the right person — not just anybody. If you need someone sooner, ask us about our active talent pool.

Do offshore accountants understand Australian tax and compliance requirements? Most accountants in the Philippines won’t come with Australian-specific experience. Typically, they hold a four-year accounting degree, may be a local CPA, and have two to three years of accounting experience. The difference is that we’ve been training Filipino accountants in Australian tax for over a decade. Our AU Bootcamp program ensures they’re ready to step in and add value quickly.

What kind of support do I get once my offshore team is in place? You’ll have ongoing support in HR, IT, operations, and training — as much or as little as you need. That could mean monthly catch-ups to help you get the best out of your team, specialised tax training through our academy, or simply making sure your team member has the right equipment (and even a birthday cake!).

How do offshore employment costs compare to Australia?Just like hiring onshore, the cost of employing someone offshore depends on their experience, skill set, and desired salary. In general, it’s around a third of the cost of hiring in Australia. For example, the total employment cost for an accountant with 2–3 years’ experience is typically $30,000–$38,000 AUD — including salary, government-mandated benefits, and extras like private health insurance. At Frontline, you’ll receive an itemised cost breakdown for each employee so you know exactly where every dollar goes. We also don’t take a percentage of staff salaries, which means when your team member earns a pay rise, it all goes directly to them. This independence also allows us to give you honest guidance around salaries and performance reviews.
