AU Tax Accountant (Permanent WFH)
As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for handling financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and maintaining accurate records. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, providing superior financial and accounting services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for all entity types (Individual, Partnership, Company, Trust).
- BAS, IAS, FBT, STP, and payroll tax preparation and compliance.
- Prepare & review associated schedules (depreciation, CGT, Rental property, Div7a, UPE, Small business CGT concessions, FBT)
- Liaise with the ATO.
- Oversee bookkeeping tasks in Xero/cloud software, including reconciliations, payroll, and AP/AR.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all technical assignments.
Workpapers & Accounting Tasks
- Prepare year-end workpapers from client-provided data, cloud accounting files, or bank statements.
- Enter and reconcile financial data using platforms (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online).
- Perform general ledger reviews and clean-ups.
- Reconcile accounts including bank, credit card, loans, payroll, and inter-entity balances.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and ATO tax legislation.
- Stay updated with annual ATO changes and assist in implementing updated tax rules.
- Cross-check and review return before submission to senior accountants.
Team Participation & Development
- Collaborate with onshore accountants via email, project management tools, or virtual meetings.
- Request missing information from onshore team members promptly and professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data privacy standards.
- Contribute to building a positive, high-performing team culture.

Requirements:
- Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree in accountancy or any accounting related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in public practice accounting.
- Knowledge of the Australian Taxation system preferred.
- Excellent technical accounting and tax skills; experience with complex entities preferred.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following:
- Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Reckon (XERO PREFERRED)
- Xero Tax, MYOB AE/AO, HandiTax, APS, or similar tax software (XERO TAX PREFERRED)
- Document management systems (FYI, Business fitness, Dropbox, OneDrive)
- Strong communication, time management, and client service skills.
- Attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Team player with mentoring capability and a commitment to professional growth.
- Must have a stable internet connection for a work-from-home arrangement. The designated work area must be in a private room, separate from shared spaces used by other household members.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, AU (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM MNL)
